Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented AML / BSA Investigator to join our Compliance team. This role is responsible for reviewing and investigating transactions to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and related regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and the ability to detect potential suspicious activity within the bank’s operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review daily and periodic transaction reports to ensure compliance with BSA and AML regulations.
  • Investigate and document suspicious activity, preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) when required.
  • Ensure proper filing of Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) for cash transactions exceeding $10,000.
  • Conduct customer due diligence (CDD) and verify information collected under the Customer Identification Program (CIP) .
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather information for investigations.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries and assist with audits related to BSA compliance.
  • Maintain detailed records of investigations, findings, and actions taken.
  • Stay current on regulatory updates, guidance, and emerging trends in BSA compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, criminal justice, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in BSA/AML compliance or financial investigations (community banking experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of BSA regulations, AML requirements, and SAR/CTR reporting .
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency with compliance software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience conducting investigations in a community or regional bank setting.
  • Familiarity with transaction monitoring systems and risk-based assessment procedures.
  • Certification such as CAMS is a plus.
