Job Description

Title: Project Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Duration: Fulltime - Hybrid role

$80000 - $85000 per annum plus benefits

Job Description:

The Project is responsible for execution of the customer’s statement-of-work. Thus, assuring flawless, on-time deliveries. You will work within the program team as the liaison between technical and program to define, plan, and manage the project plans (scope, schedule, budget, resources, purchased services, etc.) for all aspects of the project (design, analysis, manufacturing development, hardware procurement, verification, etc.) projects to drive adherence to schedule, cost, and quality targets for the assigned Control Accounts. The Project Engineer will perform control account manager responsibilities for all assigned control accounts and provide information to Program Leads.

Potential Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans, schedules, cost estimates, etc. for new/revised scope.
  • Use the change management process, prepare and present proposed scope changes to the Program Change Board, and prepare Program Change Requests to formally incorporate scope, cost and schedule changes
  • Identify and score project risks and define associated risk mitigation plans and timelines
  • Generate Statements of Work to support engineering outsourcing and authorize the outsourced work
  • Report project progress to Technical Lead and Program Management
  • Prepare and present presentations such as customer reviews, variance reviews, etc.)
  • Management of project scheduling in Excel, BusinessMap or MS Project (or similar)
  • Review documents for completeness of content, accuracy of structure and consistency to standards (architecture, etc.)
  • Document clean-up: technical writing to fix errors, add content to fill gaps, edit to improve consistency, incorporate mark-ups and update to new format
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts to fix technical shortfalls and add content where needed
  • Coordinate approval and sign offs of design and review documentation, upload into appropriate systems
  • Gather engineering technical data to develop review presentations, including problem statement/reason for change, solution options and drawings/documents to be changed
  • Support Review meetings, including scheduling meetings, support presentation, and assisting in closure of Action items
  • Maintain traceability in Product Data Management system
  • Propose, analyze and implement cost improvement initiatives
  • Assist in development of change implementation schedule, including tasks, milestones, delivery dates and lead times
  • Manage change implementation
  • Develop business cases for reduction activities
  • Track schedule and cost metrics
  • Manage Customer point of contact by assisting with scope and work package definitions, report weekly status, conduct quality and progress reviews, solicit regular Customer Satisfaction Feedback
  • Work with your Center’s Technical Leadership and Subject Matter Experts to ensure projects are executed with high technical quality and technical career development is provided to your team members

Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technical field
  • Experience with business administration, project management, and controls engineering are a plus
  • 1-5+ years of career experience
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in leading project presentations
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work independently
  • Financial management and commercial awareness
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
