Supervisor: Medical Director

Position Summary

The Psychiatrist is an integral part of our clinical services team, providing psychiatric care to participants in order to promote wellness, recovery and rehabilitation within the Harm Reduction Model.  Responsibilities are implemented within the framework of agency policy, professional ethics and regulatory guidelines. The Psychiatrist may be assigned to more than one team and collaborates with the Team Leaders ,  Clinical Directors, Nurse Manager, Manager of Integrated Care, Director of Integrated Care and VP of Housing First Services to ensure optimal use of psychiatric time in meeting goals and objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation and Mental Status Exam for new participants and meet with all assigned participants at least monthly, depending on level of participant willingness.
  • Complete Annual Psychiatric Evaluation for each participant.
  • Provide appropriate psychiatric treatment for assigned participants as prescribed by the participant-driven goal plan.
  • Provide assessments and crisis interventions for psychiatric emergencies.
  • Document all participant encounters in Credible EHR system and on the designated form within 24 hours of the encounter.
  • Write orders and prescriptions for medications using E-scripts, and monitor the efficacy and side effects, insure that refills are provided and available in a timely fashion so there is no lapse in medication adherence.
  • Work closely with the team and the participant in developing and following an optimal treatment/service plan.
  • Provide clinical consultation to the team, participating in rounds, check-in meetings and case-reviews.
  • Collaborate with the nursing staff to coordinate prescriptions and orders, and to oversee the overall health and wellness of the participants.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent and specific office and home visit work schedule in Credible which ensures monthly participant psychiatric engagement and/or treatment,
  • Participate in facilitating appropriate hospitalizations, crisis interventions and referrals including involuntary commitments and related mental health court appearances
  • Communicate with hospital staff to ensure optimal treatment and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate with clinical leadership team on policies and procedures for the provision and coordination of care.
  • Provide in-services and trainings for staff.
  • Provide behavioral health supervision and administrative direction to psychiatric residents including collaborating with local hospital to arrange rotations at Pathways.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Board eligible/board certified in Psychiatry.
  • Patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity to persons with disabilities and other minority populations.
  • DEA Certification and National Practitioner Data Bank Recognition.
  • Experience or training in community psychiatry and working with people with co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate, able to use Outlook for email and calendar applications, and ability to learn applications for e-prescribing, and management of clinical notes and evaluations.
  • Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
Provide behavioral health supervision and administrative direction to psychiatric residents during rotations at Pathways. 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Mostly office environment but will require some work in participants home or community. Significant sitting and interaction with agency participants is required.

Salary Range: $220,000 - $240,000 annually
